Just like the flowers in May, our butterflies are in full bloom!
The month of May brings so many new learning adventures for us to embark on. We’ll start off with a bang and enjoy a fiesta while learning about Cinco de Mayo.
Our friends will have the opportunity to learn all about the continent we call home, North America. We’ll be learning about the people, places, animals, landmarks and so much more!
Our friends already learned about the Blue Morpho Butterfly during our journey through the amazon rainforest. This month they will be able to get a hands on experience learning about the parts of a butterfly and their life cycle.
May is also special because it gives us the opportunity to celebrate the amazing women in our lives who we’re lucky enough to call, Mom. We’ll be putting a special something together to make our mommies feel just as loved as they make us feel every day. Harvesting that perfect Mother’s Day bouquet from the garden is the perfect introduction to the practical life skill of flower arranging.
Our virtual learning packets have us well prepared for our lesson in printing on lined paper. Some friends will continue to focus on letter sounds as we practice building words using our vowels. Other friends are working hard learning sight words and putting together simple sentences. Our math lessons continue with mastering quantities and more of a focus on subtraction equations.
May is always a crafty time at OMS. It’s the time of the year where we learn about famous artists and their unique forms of art. Our little artists will still have the opportunity to participate in their own art exhibit.
Last but most certainly not least, we’ll be ending the month by celebrating Memorial Day, and remembering those brave heroes who lost their lives, trying to protect ours.
I understand that this has been an extremely difficult time, and I want to thank all of you for being so supportive, keeping up academically with the children and more importantly, making sure those beautiful smiles never leave their faces. I miss each and every one of my friends dearly. I hope we can all be together again soon.
