Yehey! We made it for the past six weeks, I know it has been a roller coaster ride for everyone as we learn to adapt to the new normal. We have to adapt and make changes in the best educational interest of your children. Now, we are more determined to keep going and do whatever it takes to finish our curriculum and to make the rest of the school year the best that it can be.
The merry month of May starts off with the celebration of Cinco de Mayo to commemorate the Mexican victory over French forces. We will watch a video and have a discussion about the event. We will make our own pinata, learn about some famous Mexican artists like Frieda Kahlo, Jose Clemente Orozco and some arts and crafts to go along with the theme. May also welcomes the world’s most special occasion for all our wonderful mothers out there. The SuperHeroes of all time!
Happy Mother’s Day!
Our enthusiastic and hardworking students will continue working on the Impressionistic Charts and Riddle Cards in Botany. And we will continue with the study of the Human Body System and the Classification of Birds and Mammals.
As we continue our exciting journey in our quest for knowledge in History, we will join the Great Explorers in their expeditions and discoveries; follow the footsteps of the Great Men and Women and learn their contributions to the world. Our thirst for knowledge will not be complete, without travelling to the continents of Europe and South America and enjoy the wonders of their famous landmarks and their significance.
Math and Geometry will challenge our students with measurements, surface area, integers , and rational numbers. Creative writing continues as students complete all their requirements for writing. Students will read an autobiography book of their choice and reports are due on May26th.
This month’s art exhibit will be different. We will focus on famous artists and their work and encourage students to get creative as possible coming up with works of art using supplies they find at home. No one needs to go out and buy anything at all, it will be a fun way to see each student’s interpretation of the artist’s work. We plan on having a virtual Art Exhibition this year, something new but no doubt something to look forward to.
Memorial Day is coming and it reminds us of family gatherings and barbeques but let us not forget those people who sacrificed their lives in military services in order for us to be safe and enjoy the freedom we have right now.
So, Let the games begin!
We can do this, remember we are all in this together! Thank you, dear parents for your continued support, cooperation, and guidance! Stay safe and well everyone. Hope to see you soon!
