Dear Parents,
May came and went all too quickly! We have now made it to our final month, June! I hope everyone has enjoyed our virtual learning. It has definitely been an adjustment for us, and I am very proud of all of my students for continuing to work hard, nonetheless. June is a very fun and exciting month! The kindergarten class will continue to work on understanding parts of speech: nouns, verbs, and adjectives. We will continue to emphasize reading comprehension and answering in complete sentences. In math, we will review fractions and telling time. We will be reviewing our addition facts and completing math drills. For botany, we will focus on healing plant facts and what each plant contributes to our health. In geography, we will review all the continents, landmarks, and points of interest. For social studies, our focus will be on our growth from kindergartners to first graders! Wow! Time has definitely flown by.
First grade will continue their review of two- to one-digit multiplication, division, number place value, word problems, and rounding to the nearest hundred. In language, we will complete a biography book report from an important figure of each student’s choice. For geography, the students will each get a chance to pick a continent of their choice and put together an oral report on that continent. They will share their knowledge and research with their classmates and take notes as they ask questions for comprehension. We’re also very eager to celebrate our OMS dads for Father’s Day and show them how grateful we are for all that they do!
Again, thank you parents and caregivers for your hard work and dedication to your children. Without your help, support, and dedication, our classroom would not run effectively. Let’s continue pushing–we’re almost to the finish line. Our kindergartners will soon be first graders, and our first graders will soon be second graders who will be ready to tackle next year’s adventures! I am very proud of each and every one of you, and I miss you all so much!
Kind regards,
Ms. Vanessa
